  7. The famed "Red Baron", Captain Manfred von Richthofen (left), confers with 
  8. one of his squadron commanders, Lieutenant Hans Klein, in mid-March 1918, on 
  9. the eve of the Germans' big spring offensive.  The airplane made its wartime 
  10. debut in World War I, and Richthofen was the greatest ace of the war.  He 
  11. shot down eighty opponents before he met the same fate at the Battle of the 
  12. Somme on April 21.
